MCA Student Chapter Summit- March 21st,
CMCEF and MCA Canada have collaborated with host, MCA
Hamilton, to offer the 1st MCA Student Chapter Summit on March 21st,
2014. What is a Student Chapter you ask? As a result of the
changing demographics of our industry, there is a real and urgent need to
attract the best and the brightest students into the profession of mechanical
contracting. One of the proven methods to achieve this is by orientating
students into our field so that they make “mechanical” their career
choice. Through a partnership with an MCA, a University, and the
contractors a Student Chapter can be established. It takes great
commitment from all parties involved but it is definitely a great investment
into the future of the mechanical contracting profession. There are a
number of MCA’s that have had success in partnering with local universities to
begin their own Chapters, MCA Hamilton has partnered with McMaster University,
MCA Kitchener-Waterloo with the University of Waterloo, MCA Ottawa with the
University of Ottawa and most recently Algonquin College and MCA Toronto with
George Brown University. The Summit will offer a one day educational
forum where students, contractors, faculty, and MCA Managers will come together
to address this skills shortage by developing student interest through
participation in educational sessions, networking opportunities, site visit,
and team competitions.
Events such as this Summit would not be a success without
the support of its sponsors. This entire event has been sponsored with
not cost going to the attendees. We would gratefully like to extend our
sincere thanks to the following: Presenting Sponsor:
MCA Ontario Platinum Sponsors: MCA Hamilton, McMaster
University, MCAA, Aecon Silver Sponsors: AON, UA Local 67,
MCA Hamilton Associate Committee, Trimble, Modern Niagara Group Inc, and IT
Works Promotions Honorary Sponsors: MCA Canada and CMCEF.
Construction Middle Management Conference - 3rd Edition - Western Program
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan ~ April 1st to 3rd, 2014
Registration is now open for
the upcoming CMCEF Middle Management Conference. In 2012 and 2013 this same conference was
held in Toronto and Halifax respectively.
Feedback from attendees was excellent and for this reason MCA
Saskatchewan has asked to host the three day event in Saskatoon, April 1st
to 3rd, 2014, at the Hilton Garden Inn.
This conference is designed specifically for project
managers, supervisors, estimators, and office staff. We work in an industry where much of our success
depends on how well we work with other trades, our suppliers, our own staff and
our clients. Without synergy among these
parties we could not continue to exist as viable contractors. It is for this reason our Conference
Committee has once again chosen to focus on the theme of “ACHIEVING
SUCCESS…WORKING TOGETHER” for the 2014 Middle Management Conference.
To ease the registration process you are now able
to register on line at www.cmcef.org. You do not need to pay at the time of registration;
you may request to be invoiced. If you do not have access to a computer
you may still send in your registration form by fax.
If you have any further questions, please contact
the CMCEF Executive Director, Tania Johnston at 613-232-5169.
